Atlanta, GA-based metallers DAATH have issued the following from guitarist Emil Werstler:
"All of the response we've gotten from everyone concerning 'Sharpen The Blades' has been great. So, THANK YOU. I've been asked a few questions regarding the guitar parts, so here is an overview:To download a transcription in Guitar Pro format , click here.
I'm highlighting a few important parts of the riff by breaking it down into three examples:
- Example 1 shows the main riff being played, and emphasizes the importance of the picking hand.- Example 2 is what I like to call a transitional riff. It happens right before Sean Z's vocals come in and throughout the rest of the verse.
- Example 3 is easier if learned seprately from 2.
The most important thing to notice in these riff examples is the relationship between the left and right hand. In general, the hammer on's, pull off's, and slides are allowing the right hand more freedom which creates more of a flowing sound. A lot of the more "arpeggiated" guitar riffs in Daath work this same way."
Daath recently ssued a two-and-a-half-minute teaser for their new album, The Concealers. Check it out below.
The Concealers is being produced by Jason Suecof (TRIVIUM, CHIMAIRA) and engineered by Mark Lewis (AudioHammer Studios).
