DANKO JONES - New Official Podcast Featuring FIREBALL MINISTRY's Jim Rota Available
July 22, 2014, 10 years ago
Toronto rocker Danko Jones recently spoke to Jim Rota, singer and guitarist in Fireball Minstry, and producer of Dave Grohl’s superb Sound City documentary. They talked KISS, Jesse Margera, the new Foo Fighters HBO show Sonic Highways and how Nikki Sixx of Mötley Crüe is "just about the coolest guy in the world."
Danko Jones has reunited with JUNO Award winning producer Eric Ratz, with whom the band recorded with in 1999 for the JUNO-nominated My Love is Bold release. The band is in the midst of recording the new LP which will be released via New Damage Records in early 2015.
Says Ratz of Danko Jones, “I've always felt that they were one of the best hard rock bands to come out of this country. Danko has amazing stage presence that fuels their live shows. Our goal is to capture that with this recording."
Danko Jones, which features Danko Jones (vox/guitar), John ‘JC’ Calabrese (bass) and Rich Knox (drums), was the first band to record with Ratz at Vespa Music when the studio first opened its doors. The new LP will feature 11 fresh tracks recorded at Vespa as well as Revolution Studios with Ratz at the helm. After a year and a half of non-stop worldwide touring, a video with acclaimed and often controversial Canadian director Bruce LaBruce, and a track in one of the more key scenes in the movie Kick Ass 2, Danko Jones is excited to be back in the studio.
“Working with Eric Ratz again has been a long time coming,” says Danko. “It’s been a great reunion, something we all wanted to do again. It’s been most fortuitous to record some of the best songs we’ve written with him at the helm.”Upcoming tour dates:
