DEATH ANGEL Guitarist TED AGUILAR Checks In; Forthcoming Album To Be Recorded On Tape

DEATH ANGEL guitarist Ted Aguilar has issued the following update:
"My bro Rob Cavestany called me up on my way home from work and wanted to know if I wanted to do a last minute open mic jam over at Blake's in Berkeley (since Death Angel rehearsal got rescheduled). Why not? This should be fun. This would be a good way to break the ice of some acoustic jams before Rob and I head out to San Antonio, TX to play for Robb's Metal Works 10th Year Anniversay.Got home, got some grub, grab my acoustic and headed over to Rob's. On the way over to Rob's, I was listening to his solo CD (which is being released September 4th through his MySpace page). One thing about Rob is that he's a spontaneous person. Not sure what song he wants to play until the last minute (sometimes), so I had to be prepared. He does that in DA every now and then. For me, it's pretty nerve racking, but GREAT!!!! Keeps me on my toes and preps me to prepare for anything.
Got to Rob's and went over a tune called 'This Life' and off we go. Got to Blake's around 8:30ish. Signed up and hung out to checked out the scene. This was my first time doing open mic. This is something new for me. I was nervous, but excited at the same time. Rob has done a few of these before back in the day with Gus (Pepa). With these open mics, you get to play 3 songs. Pretty short, but to the point. Plus, there are quite a few local artists that sign up for these things and they can go on until like 2am.
So, the night started around 9ish. There was 4 acts before us. Different styles, but very interesting and quite good. It's pretty cool to check out different styles of acoustic music. We went on around 10:15. Just went up, plugged in our acoustics & jammed out 3 tunes: 'Chip On Your Shoulder','This Life', 'Comet'.
Right when we were done, I was ready to do more. At first, man, I was nervous. I'm used to jamming with loud amps, drums and a intense metal frontman with a loud crowd. But this time, it's stripped down. Just 2 guys, with acoustic guitars vibing out to a totally different crowd. Totally different trip, but fun as fuck. After we got done, we checked out one more act and headed home. Rob and I had so much fun, that we may do more of those down the road. We'll see. RIGHT ON ROB!! That was a BLAST!!!!
On the Death Angel front, we got lots of new songs going. Songs are sounding heavy and very Death Angel sounding. Everyone is into it. Andy is playing like never before, Den's bass is sounding huge and his playing is INSANE, Rob's coming up with some sick ass riffs and musical ideas and Mark is coming up with some good vocal ideas. 11 tunes so far with more being written. We plan to start tracking very soon. Man, I can't wait to get this on tape (Yes, I said it. TAPE!!! Cause things sound better on tape). Can't wait for everyone to hear it.
I'm out!!!!!"
