Prince Edward Island's DEATH VALLEY DRIVER will be heading to Adam Gallant Studios this weekend to begin work on their upcoming 4-song EP, entitled Carnivore’s Oath. The four-song effort will be produced by Paper Lions guitarist and multiple award nominee Colin Buchanan. No stranger to the producer’s chair, Buchanan has worked with PEI bands such as North Lakes, Colour Code, as well as his own band. This will be his first foray into a heavier genre - a challenge he looks forward to accepting.

"When Dan first sent me a message about producing I was totally taken off guard", commented vocalist Dan Hodgson. "I've often thought of myself as versatile and have always wanted to work in different genres but Metal was definitely far from my comfort zone. But after I met with the guys and saw them play live I began to understand where I could work within their dynamic and sound. It seem like a weird collision of worlds on paper but in the end it's all just music. And it works.”

The band is equally excited for the opportunity to work with Buchanan and shared this statement: “For this EP, we really wanted to get out of our comfort zone, and we felt Colin was the right person to help us achieve that. He has an incredible ear and his input during pre-production has been amazing. Expect some new sounds from us this time around – although no less heavy. Colin is an accomplished songwriter, guitarist and vocalist, so we knew going in he could make our band the best we could be. He’s really made us up our game."

Death Valley Driver recently released their new music video ‘Smoke Whip’. The video was shot over two days in November by Colin MacDonald (Foster Avenue Productions) in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Loosely conceptualized off the Jim Jones Cult, the video portrays the band's vocalist Dan Hodgson as the cult leader.

"Colin really is the MVP of this whole video. His direction and vision really captured the dark lyrics of the song." commented vocalist Dan Hodgson. "The final product is something we are really proud of. We can't wait for people to see the twisted visions he came up with. He had me play the cult leader, which could have ended in disaster. But thanks to his comforting demeanor, it was something I had a lot of fun with."

‘Smoke Whip’ is off their most recent album Graveyard Dead which was released in June 2013 by Diminished Fifth Records.
