DORO PESCH - "The Best Songs Come Out In My Dreams"
June 1, 2007, 17 years ago
German metal queen DORO PESCH spoke to Dustin Schoof from NJ.com recently about a number of topics including her new CD/DVD box set, 20 Years: A Warrior Soul. Pesch says she didn't even really consider her sound to be all that metal at first. She insists it was more about emotion and playing from her gut than trying to fall into a specific genre.
"When I was 3 years old, I knew I wanted to become a singer. I grew up with Led Zeppelin and glam rock. Later on, it got a little heavier but I didn't even know it was heavy metal. We just played what we loved."You can be who you are from extremely aggressive to sensitive and nothing else got me so excited."She adds, "The best songs come out in my dreams. When I sleep, sometimes I get a thought or melody and I have to be quick to put it down. It has to come from soul, from the heart. It can be anything - political or a real rock song or a real emotional song. I love them all."
