FINAL DARKNESS - 'Memories' Of The Late Rob Doherty
November 20, 2012, 11 years ago
This past May 4th, former INTO ETERNITY guitarist and "ambassador of Saskatchewan metal" Rob Doherty suddenly passed. He played on the band's 2004 album Buried In Oblivion and had launched the FINAL DARKNESS project in late 2011.
A new updated from the band reads: "It was one-year ago today that we released the single for 'Memories'. We had just received the final masters and Rob was excited to digitally release a single from the album prior to releasing the full album on his birthday - December 21st.
Coincidentally, Rob was in the process of transferring some old video tapes to digital around that same time. While going through some of the footage and listening to the finished version of 'Memories', inspiration struck. Over the process of about 30 hours he managed to condense more than 20 hours of video into a 4.5 minute reflection of the time he spent touring with Into Eternity."

Final Darkness features guest performances from Tim Roth (Into Eternity) on the songs 'Kill Room', 'Memories' and 'Darkness Falls'. A big break came when legendary producer/engineer Neil Kernon (QUEENSRŸCHE, NEVERMORE, CANNIBAL CORPSE) agreed to do the final mix for the project. Kernon also helped hook Doherty up with mastering engineer Alan Douches from West West Side Music to help give the album "a killer sound."
