FU MANCHU's Scott Hill: "We Just Like Getting In And Getting Out Of The Song"

KTVU.com has issued an interview with FU MANCHU guitarist Scott Hill. The following is an excerpt:

Q: Another thing I was thinking about as I listened to the new album was that there seems to be a new wave of heavy bands getting more experimental and bringing in prog-rock elements like MASTODON and THE MARS VOLTA. You guys are much more meat-and-potatoes, straight-forward rock. I was wondering if you had listened to any of those bands or had any thoughts about them?

A: "You know, I haven't really listened to too much of that. I've heard Mastodon and they're pretty cool. For me and Fu Manchu, we just like getting in and getting out of the song. Like I said, I grew up with hardcore punk-rock stuff; a couple of riffs played as fast as you can, you know what I mean? A few riffs and the songs done, and I like that. I don't like a lot of long jamming or songs that are a million parts. But I haven't really heard any of those bands that you mentioned, so I can't really say."
