GIANT X, the band founded by RUNNING WILD’s Rolf Kasparek and Peter J. Jordan, will release their debut album, entitled I, on January 18th in Germany, January 21st in Europe and January 22nd in US/Canada via Steamhammer/SPV.

In a new interview with Rock Overdose, Peter discusses the new album, as well as Running Wild. An excerpt follows:

Q: The new Giant X album release date is approaching. How do you feel?

A: "I feel really happy! It was big fun doing this album and we hope the fans will appreciate that!"

Q: What should a fan that doesn't know you and Rolf expect to listen from I? Would you like to introduce Giant X to the Greek audience?

A: "Rolf and I tried to blend musical styles that we grew up and feel familiar with. Our musical roots were in fact the big rock and metal acts of the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s. The production and playing, however, is in a more contemporary style. I started out wanting to be a rock guitar hero. Once I decided to make a living by making music I began writing and producing pop music and it worked out quite well. Rolf started his career for the same reasons – he listened to the same music. He took the straight road and formed Running Wild. We met in 2005 when he asked me to join Running Wild. I of Giant X is Rolf and me putting the essence of our musical roots into brandnew songs."

Q: How was the recording process? Did you manage to achieve the desirable result?

A: "I’d say the producion took place in 3 phases. First we did a five-song-demo. This took quite a lot of time, because we did the Running Wild Shadowmaker album at the same time. After we signed the record deal we spent about 3 to 4 weeks to write more songs. After that I finished the mixes and mastering in about 2 weeks. Rolf and I wrote the songs together. Most of the recordings were done in my studio. Rolf recorded guitars and basses in his own studio. During the mix Rolf came over several times and also Niki Nowy, the live-mixer of Running Wild. We are very happy with the result! "
