GRAVEYARD Issue Hisingen Blues Track By Track Commentary
March 10, 2011, 13 years ago
Gothenburg, Sweden's GRAVEYARD has offered the following track-by-track commentary on the nine songs comprising their new studio album, Hisingen Blues.
This 100% analog recorded release will be out in Europe on March 25 and in North America on April 19th It was produced, recorded, and mixed by Don Alsterberg (JOSÉ GONZALES, JUNIP, SOUNDTRACK OF OUR LIVES, THE INTERNATIONAL NOISE CONSPIRACY) at Don Pierre Studios in Gothenburg, Sweden.
'Ain’t Fit To Live Here' - “Classic blues riffs, just harder and on speed, and filtered through 30-40 years of rock history. Lyrics - frustration and the feeling that you hate everybody.”
'No Good, Mr. Holden' - “Introspective lyrics. A doomy and gentle song at the same time. The song melodies really stand out on this one.”
'Hisingen Blues' - “A fast hard song about living fast and hard. Not your general song structure. Influenced by many different types of music.”
'Uncomfortably Numb' - “Jokingly, we've called it the power ballad of the album. Lyrics speaks for themselves. A touch of southern rock. Suitable for making love to. Maybe.”
'Buying Truth (Tack Och Förlåt)' - “A bit more modern if you will, but hard and primitive. Get-drunk-and-fight-it-out vibe. Lyrics about nervous, fake, media/music industry people, and other asshole musicians that haven't got anything to bring to the table.”
'Longing' - “Something we'd been jamming on for a long time before we went in to the studio. But it was also very much written in the studio. Don (producer) had a lot of ideas for this one and we had kind help from a couple of friends, also. It's a nice break with a very different instrumental on the album.”
'Ungrateful Are The Dead' - “Title explains most of it. It's not easy being alive. Personal lyrics. A song that we recorded a couple of times but never really were satisfied with until we made this version. Heavy. Maybe the most metal song on the album.”
'RSS' - “Live fast die. A party song with troublesome lyrics. And unusual backing vocals.”
'The Siren' - “Slow swamp blues with classic rock outbreaks and a really intense outro. Lyrics deals with a nightmare about Roky Erickson.”
