hot flashes news hail the villain

LoudTrax has issued a new interview with Bryan Crouch of Roadrunner Records artists HAIL THE VILLAIN.

The following is an excerpt:

Q: Let’s start by talking about your album. Tell us about how it came together and the whole process.

A: "The album came together as we were kind of in a state of limbo whether we were going to continue on as a band. We all knew we always wanted to play together, but things had got pretty stale. We met up with a producer called Darryl Romphf out in Vancouver. He was digging some of our demos and he came down to see us. After 1 day we finished 'Take Back The Fear' and 'My Reward'. We decided that this was the guy to make the dream record for us come true.

So we scraped together any money we could and we recorded the first 6 songs in a barn in Southern Ontario. We ended up getting an investment deal after that and we made the rest of the record happen in a different session 3 months from there."

Q: I have to ask you about the fantastic 'Take Back the Fear' video. Who came up with the story line, and what was your reaction when you saw the final product?

A: "We came up with it together. We were working on the album artwork and we got to the point where we thought that everything was so generic and weren’t nuts about where things were going. So we decided to do a comic book. One dumb idea led to another and we wrote a full movie. Not just 'Take Back the Fear', but an entire movie that would go episode by episode that goes from one song to the next. When we finally saw 2 years worth of writing, creating, designing characters, etc... we were just blown away by what we knew was about to come.

We want to see this whole movie get made so it’s not just about that one video, but about the whole movie."
