Billboard.com's Bob Allen reports:
ROGER WATERS is No. 1 in the Hot Tours rankings with more than $53 million in box office grosses reported during the past week from the European leg of The Wall Live tour. Adding this week's totals to the grosses from venues in the UK that were reported earlier, ticket sales totals from Europe top $67 million. Since the tour began in September of last year, the overall gross total through May 31st was $156 million, but the tour is not over. Waters is currently on the road in Europe with dates booked through July 12th when the tour is scheduled to wrap with three performances in Athens.
Veteran rock band IRON MAIDEN takes the No. 2 spot in the rankings this week with totals reported from tour legs in both South America and Europe. The South American shows, reported during the past week by promoter Evenpro/Water Brother, occurred in early April. The band played two concerts in Brazil (April 3rd in Recife and April 5th in Curitiba) and a stadium event in Argentina on April 8th at Estadio Vélez Sársfield in Buenos Aires. The best-attended concert was in Chile at the 47,000-seat Estadio Nacional in Santiago, the largest stadium in the country. With 43,780 fans in attendance, the performance on April 10th grossed 1.2 billion pesos ($2.6 million US$). The European shows, reported by Wizard Promotions, were all sellouts at venues in Germany during late-May and early-June. At a concert on June 3rd, Berlin's 17,000-seat arena, O2 World, drew a crowd of 12,817, the top attendance reported from the six German arenas in this week's tally.
