Legendary Singer PAUL RODGERS To Perform Live On Toronto's Q107 Next Week
September 21, 2007, 17 years ago
History will be made on Tuesday, September 25th, when legendary singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist Paul Rodgers (QUEEN+PAUL RODGERS, BAD COMPANY) teams up with Canadian guitar virtuoso KIM MITCHELL for a very special live-to-air performance at Q107’s street-level studios (279 Yonge St., Hard Rock Café).
Rodgers is in Toronto promoting his #1 charting debut solo DVD Live In Glasgow, which has been enjoying top positioning on Canada’s music DVD SoundScan charts since its release earlier this year.
The Q107 performance begins at 4pm EST; Rodgers and Mitchell will perform songs from the Live In Glasgow DVD. As an added bonus, select Paul Rodgers fans will receive limited edition CDs, T-shirts and photographs.
Live In Glasgow, recorded in October of 2006 on the last date of his Sold Out UK tour (which included a date at London's prestigious Royal Albert Hall), is stunning proof that Rodgers' voice and performance is as strong as ever. This 135-minute DVD, shot with 13 cameras, includes brand new songs 'Warboys (A Prayer For Peace)' and 'Far Distant Shore', as well as songs he has not performed in 35 years, and many of his hits, including 'All Right Now', 'Feel Like Making Love' and 'Can’t Get Enough'. Soulful, bluesy, swaggering, he belts out his songs, and also plays piano and guitar. The band: guitarist Howard Leese (HEART), bassist Lynn Sorenson, drummer Ryan Hoyle (COLLECTIVE SOUL) and introducing 17-year old guitar prodigy Kurtis Dengler.
Rodgers’ growing resume reads like a rock history lesson. This platinum-selling singer, songwriter, and self-taught multi-instrumentalist has written, recorded, produced, and released 28 albums. He found and led three bands to International Success: Free (1968-1973), Bad Company (1974-1982), and The Firm with Jimmy Page (1984-1986), and now enjoys a Grammy nominated solo career. In 2005-06 he joined forces with Queen's Brian May and Roger Taylor for the successful Queen + Paul Rodgers World Tour, performing songs from both of their catalogues, plus Rodgers’ new song, 'Take Love'.
He continues to tour and record internationally as a solo artist and as Queen + Paul Rodgers. For more information, visit www.paulrodgers.com.
Live In Glasgow was also released on CD April 24 via Eagle Rock Entertainment.
