Live Keyboardist Carsten Altena Leaving THE MONOLITH DEATHCULT
August 13, 2008, 16 years ago
Keyboardist Carsten Altena will leave Dutch death merchants THE MONOLITH DEATHCULT's touring lineup.
A statement from Altena reads:
"A few days ago I made a decision. As of 2009 I'm leaving The Monolith Deathcult as a live member. It was a difficult decision. Things are going extremely well for the band: the third album has been heralded as the metal-release of the year by many individuals and magazines across the world. We're performing at all these great festivals, one of them being one of the biggest in Europe. We're getting a lot of attention from magazines and radiostations. We're doing headline shows and share cool stages with big names. So leaving the band now seems like a bad time. Actually, anytime would probably be a bad time. What are the reasons? In one word, lack of time. For getting things done, on a personal level, on a professional level (as a graphic designer). For a couple of my own studio projects I've been postponing for years, really. And lack of time for doing not too much, really ;) That's probably the first thing I'm going to do; take it easy. Having said that, I won't rule out the possibility that I will do work for TMDC as a studio musician in the future, just like I've done for so many other bands. But mark my words, I will be back some day on a stage, with a fresh new act! You will know when and where!
Thanks.
I'm leaving the band, but still have the friends I've made in the last couple of 4 years. It was an honour to share the stage with such talented musicians. Sjoerd, Robin, Martijn and Michiel, you guys fucking rule. And let's not forget to thank the crew and entourage, especially Arjen.
I wish you all the best!"
