Dressing up as ghoulish monsters is nothing new in heavy metal, but what sets Finland's LORDI apart from the majority of it's predecessors is that the group made a splash with their music first by winning the 2006 Eurovision song contest. As a result, the group is fast becoming a sensation in its homeland and is gearing up for its first proper US release, The Arockalypse, due March 20th via the End Records.
"If you like Kiss, Alice Cooper, Twisted Sister and W.A.S.P., I think we're your new favorite band - that is the simplest way to put it," vocalist Mr. Lordi tells Billboard.com. "It's nothing fancy, except kick-ass rock -- that's what it's all about."On the heels of a 2006 import version of The Arockalypse, the upcoming edition will feature a trio of bonus tracks: 'Would You Love A Monsterman? '06', 'Mr. Killjoy' and 'EviLove'. Also included is a DVD with a 30-minute Helsinki concert from May 26, 2006, as well as the music videos for 'Hard Rock Hallelujah' and 'Who's Your Daddy', and a series of Eurovision Lordi documentaries.
