Korea's "premier thrash metal band" MAHATMA's sophomore album, Perseverance, is nominated in the Best Rock Album category at the 5th Annual Korean Music Awards (the Korean version of Grammy Awards).

"It's just a sign that metal although not as popular as the other trendy music genre, is also having its presence felt in the Korean music scene," stated the band's label Dope Entertainment. "No one can deny that our boys at Mahatma is at the top of their game and the nomination just proves it. We want to thank all of the Korean metal fans for their continuous support because without them metal would be non-existent in Korea and bands like Mahatma would cease to exist.

JongGap (vocals/guitar) commented: As musicians this nomination means a lot to us. It's a big honor for us to have our album up against those of other great artists for the Best Rock Album category. Unfortunately, we won't be able to make it to the awards night because we will be opening for Shadows Fall that night. If we're not busy headbanging, we will check frequently on who will be the winners. hahaha. We would like to say thank you and send our deepest gratitude to those who voted for us."

The 5th Korean Music Awards is scheduled to be held on March 5th at the SungGyunKwan University Hall in Seoul, Korea.
