MEGADETH bassist David Ellefson recently did a fan Q&A; with readers of Rockoverdose.gr. An excerpt is available below.

Q: What are Megadeth for you after all these years?

Ellefson: "The goal initially was to be the fastest and most furious band ever. I think we accomplished that many years ago and now we also focus on other strengths of musical abilities, melody and song writng. I think that's why we've lasted so long and our songs have stood the test of time."

Q: Is it true that you received a message from the drummer of Megadeth, Shawn Drover, and that was meant to be your return back to the band?

Ellefson: "Yes, that is true. Dave and I had been speaking over the years and my return was hopeful but it never happened until all the stars aligned back in January 2010.and now here I am!"

Q: Which was your favourite tour period with Megadeth? And how could you describe the experience playing live in Athens last year with Big Four?

Could you tell as your oppinion abouth the Geek audience?

Ellefson: "Currently, I like this current tour period. The RIP album was a great anchor to our 2010 tour and now we will have new songs coming up for future touring. Plus, many of our past albums are hitting the 20 and 25 year mark which creates continued excitement around possibilities for those records, tours and celebrations.

As for the Athens BIG 4, that was a great day...a really special location. The way the stages were set up to keep the fans in the middle of the grassy area was really cool. I felt like it was an optimum setting for the fans to really be able to see ALL the bands, something that isn't the case in many really big festival settings, almost like they have to choose which bands they will get to see.

As for the Greek fans, what can I say? You are some of the rowdiest and most passionate on the planet!!"
