Inspired by the soon-to-be-published book from SEAN KELLY of CRASH KELLY and GILBY CLARKE, the Metal On Ice – Tunes From Canada’s Hard Rock And Heavy Metal Heroes companion EP tells the tale of Canadian hard-rock through the re-recording of chart-topping heavy metal hits from the 1980s. Slated for release in October 2013, the album will include new recordings of original hit songs by celebrated Canadian artists. The tracklisting has just been confirmed:
'On The Road To Rock' - Nicholas Walsh (SLIK TOXIK) with Victor Langen (KICK AXE)
'Heavy Metal Love' - Brian Vollmer (HELIX)
'Metal Queen' - Lee Aaron
'Don't It Make You Feel' - Darby Mills (HEADPINS)
'Keep The Spirit Alive' - Russ Dwarf (KILLER DWARFS)
'Hey Operator' - Carl Dixon (CONEY HATCH)
The project is supported by an extensive PledgeMusic campaign, which wraps up in 37 days; don't miss out.
Recognizing that Canadian heavy metal and hard rock artists of the 80s were pioneers in the expansion of Canadian music internationally and therefore influenced the lives of many, Kelly has partnered with Coalition Music to crank up the volume on the project. Together the team has created a list of unique opportunities for fans via PledgeMusic, allowing them to play an integral role in the recording of the Metal On Ice – Tunes From Canada’s Hard Rock And Heavy Metal Heroes companion album and get an insider’s look into the upcoming live shows.
The Metal On Ice – Tunes From Canada’s Hard Rock And Heavy Metal Heroes PledgeMusic campaign offers fans the opportunity to support this important project all while gaining incredible behind-the-scenes access. Options are provided to pledging fans at all price points and include: advance copies of the EP, guest list to live performances, Skype guitar lessons with participating musicians, access to a pre-show cocktail reception, a signed drumskin used at a live show, autographed guitars/microphones and the ultimate prize of spending a day in the Coalition Music (Studios) in Toronto when all six artists will be present to record (earning those in attendance the chance to have their names included in the coveted liner notes!).
"The Metal On Ice project is a chance for fans to hear the stories behind the songs while reconnecting with the songs that helped shape the Canadian music landscape," said Kelly. “It also presents an opportunity for lovers of Canadian hard rock and heavy metal to come together in support of the genre and recognize the importance of celebrating its successes. We wanted to give true fans access to incredible experiences and believe we have done just that with the exclusive opportunities available through our PledgeMusic campaign.”
With the support of an anticipated book, an EP in process and a list of soon-to-be announced live performances, there is no question that the Metal On Ice project will bring the stories of Canadian hard rock and heavy metal to life.
