According to Roger Friedman from Showbiz411.com, the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame is planning its 25th anniversary for the fall of 2009 at Madison Square Garden and have booked October 29th and 30th for a two-day extravaganza.

Tentatively scheduled for the Thursday show are BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN, SIMON & GARFUNKEL, PAUL SIMON as a solo act, STEVIE WONDER, and the whole posse that includes CROSBY, STILLS, NASH, YOUNG and friends.

Then on Friday: ARETHA FRANKLIN headlines, with U2, METALLICA, and ERIC CLAPTON.

This past April 4th, Metallica were inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame at Public Hall in Cleveland, Ohio. While the metal legends took a break from a world tour for the ceremony, the event was also serving as a family reunion. Bassist Jason Newsted, who left the band in 2001, accepted an invitation to rejoin his bandmates for the big gig which included a live jam of 'Master Of Puppets' and 'Enter Sandman'.

Flea of THE RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS introduced Metallica. "If you're gonna have a Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame ... you've got to have Metallica in it."

Metallica co-founders Lars Ulrich (drums) and James Hetfield (lead vocals and guitar) waxed philosophical at the podium. "Rock 'n' roll is about possibilities and about dreams," said Ulrich.

"Dream big and dare to fail ... 'cause this is living proof that it is possible to make a dream come true," said Hetfield, who also made a point of rattling off other hard-rocking bands (including MOTÖRHEAD, KISS and RUSH) deserving of induction.

After his remarks, Hetfield wrapped up Ulrich in a bear hug.

Sharing in Metallica's honor were guitarist Kirk Hammett and bass players Robert Trujillo, Jason Newsted and the late Cliff Burton, who was killed in a 1986 tour bus crash.
