September 24, 2009, 15 years ago
Late SAVATAGE guitarist Criss Oliva's Ibanez DM1100 guitar effect unit is currently up for auction on eBay.
According to the description: "The unit has been thoroughly tested and it works perfectly but shows obvious wear from being on many Savatage world tours. Its missing two knobs, the feedback knob is broke off but they can be turned. This delay unit is one of the keys to unlocking Criss' tone. We will have a few very rare Savatage items up for sale soon. You won't believe your eyes!!! Stay tuned!!"

On October 17, 1993, at around 3:30a.m., Criss and his wife Dawn were driving north on Highway 301 on his way to the Fourth Annual Livestock Festival held in Zephyrhills, Florida, just north of Tampa. An oncoming car crossed the median and struck Criss' 1982 Mazda RX-7 head-on, killing him instantly.
