Cover Showbiz is reporting:
OZZY OSBOURNE believes he made it as a rocker because of serial killer Charles Manson.
The rocker is adamant Black Sabbath's satanic lyrics clinched a record deal because people were drawn to dark music at the time. Ozzy, who is known as the Prince of Darkness, revealed he might even have been friends with Manson if he hadn't been given a life sentence for multiple murders.
"The Manson murders were all over the telly, so anything with a dark edge was in big demand," he revealed in his new autobiography 'I Am Ozzy'. "Before he turned psycho, Manson had been a big part of the LA music scene. If he hadn't gone to jail, we probably would have ended up hanging out with him."Ozzy admits Black Sabbath's disturbing songs did little to endear him to the opposite sex. When the band first began getting famous and were playing to bigger venues, some women were so terrified of their lyrics they left before the show was over. "All the girls ran out of the venue screaming. Isn't the whole point of being in a band to get a shag, not to make chicks run away? I never got good-looking chicks," he explained. "We'd get beer bottles thrown at us, not frilly underwear."
The 61-year-old star is happy with his reputation as a wild rocker and is used to being criticised for his outlandish behaviour. His laidback attitude towards his critics is helped by the fact he is dyslexic.
"One of the few good things about being dyslexic," he said, "is that when I say, 'I don't read reviews,' I mean I DON'T READ REVIEWS!"
