PRIMAL FEAR - Pictures From Metalway Festival Available
July 1, 2009, 15 years ago
As previously reported, VOODOO CIRCLE guitarist Alex Beyrodt has stepped in as a temporary replacement for PRIMAL FEAR's Magnus Karlsson on the band's current tour in the wake of Karlsson recently becoming a father. Beyrodt has posted some pictures from their June 27th show at the Metalway Festival in Zaragoza, Spain at this location.
The band recently issued the following update with regards to the new touring situation:
"Congratulations Magnus and his wife Elisabeth – they will stay some more days in the hospital. We’re waiting exactly for this moment to post the news. Alex Beyrodt came in last minute to help out at our first 16.6 show in Mainz and will be on stage with us, until Magnus gives us the go-ahead to come back!We wish Magnus all the best with his new backing choir and thanks to Alex for rocking with us again AND be a real friend!"
As previously reported, Primal Fear bassist / co-founder Mat Sinner recently spoke with BW&BK; scribe Carl Begai about the band's new album, 16.6 (Before The Devil Knows Your Dead). Following is an excerpt from the interview.
"You’ve spoken with musicians all over the world, so you know that the new album is always the best," Sinner laughs. "I’m an honest guy, and the problem I had with the New Religion album was on the guitar front. We were going through a lot of problems, so it was a miracle the album turned out that great. We made the album happen with the help of Magnus (Karlsson) and Henny (Wolter), and it was a good album, but now there’s a different kind of quality on the guitar side of things. This band has a very different character now compared to the last line-up. Stephan’s (Leibing) big job was to handle and make compromises because he had a family to worry about. He was a very good guy, but he couldn’t keep up with us anymore. It was a friendly split, but those problems were reflected on the New Religion album. As for Tom (Naumann)… we don’t want to talk about that anymore.”
