Guitar legend ROBIN TROWER’s 1974 hit album, Bridge Of Sighs, has been remastered and expanded for CD and digital release on October 2 by Capitol/EMI. The new package features eight bonus tracks culled from two BBC performances recorded in 1974 and 1975 for the famed John Peel Sessions. A Top-10 Billboard chart hit upon its 1974 release, Bridge of Sighs remains the powerhouse guitarist’s most recognized and accomplished album.

Trower was the guitarist for PROCOL HARUM from 1967 until 1971, when he left the group to pursue a solo career. Bridge of Sighs was Trower’s second solo album, showcasing both his emotional, bluesy guitar style and his trio, which included singer and bassist James Dewar and drummer Bill Lordan. Dewar and Lordan’s playing complemented Trower’s evocative, intricate guitar in a lineup that is often compared to the JIMI HENDRIX EXPERIENCE.

While Trower’s style is inspired in part by Hendrix’s distinct and revolutionary approach, the most direct comparison to be made is not in technical style but rather in the bared emotion, power and passion of both guitarists’ playing, as well as in their shared affinity for the Fender Stratocaster.

Bridge of Sighs peaked at No. 7 on Billboard’s album chart, launching Trower to new heights of arena rock stardom. He released several more successful albums and toured to many of the world’s largest venues throughout the seventies. The eighties saw him collaborate with ROXY MUSIC frontman BRUAN FERRY and ex-CREAM bassist/vocalist Jack Bruce, and in the nineties, he reunited with Procol Harum to release a group new album.

Now in his fourth decade of performing and recording, Trower has continued to work with Ferry while also releasing his own albums and touring. Trower’s most recent studio album, Another Days Blues, was released in 2005.
