Kenneth Jones from Playbill.com is reporting:

Rock of Ages, the new musical that plunders the treasure chest of 1980s rock legends for its score, will begin Broadway previews at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre March 17, with a special pricing offer for previews, the producers announced.

Tickets will go on sale to the general public on Feb. 5 via Ticketmaster.com at (212) 307-4100. No casting has been announced. Opening night is April 7.

Following a successful, critically acclaimed Off-Broadway run and the sale of the film rights to New Line Cinema, Rock of Ages moves to Broadway, launching three days earlier than previously mentioned by producers (March 20 was originally announced as the first preview date).

"In an unprecedented ticket structure, a large block of orchestra and front mezzanine tickets for preview performances (March 17-April 6) can be purchased for $49.50 with the code 'PROCK,'" the producers announced.

After opening on April 7, the production "will have a lower top ticket price than any other Broadway musical with a ticket range of $26.50-$99."

Here's how the show is billed: "In 1987 on the Sunset Strip, a small town girl met a big city rocker and in L.A.'s most famous rock club, they fell in love to the greatest songs of the '80s. It's Rock of Ages, an arena-rock love story told through the mind-blowing, face-melting hits of Journey, Bon Jovi, Foreigner and many more. Don't miss this awesomely good time about dreaming big, playing loud and partying on."

The show is written by Chris D'Arienzo (writer and director of the upcoming film "Barry Munday"), directed by Kristin Hanggi (Bare, Pussycat Dolls on the Sunset Strip) and choreographed by Kelly Devine (Jersey Boys' associate choreographer).

Expect songs made famous by iconic rockers JOURNEY, BON JOVI, STYX, REO SPEEDWAGON, PAT BENATAR, TWISTED SISTER, POISON, ASIA, WHITESNAKE and many more.
