SINGLE BULLET THEORY - "The Writing Process For The New Record Divine Ways Of Chaos Is Now Underway"

hot flashes news single bullet theory

Guitarist/vocalist Matt Difabio from Philadelphia's SINGLE BULLET THEORY has issued the following update:

"2008 has been a very bizarre year in my life. Many life altering things took place around me and I had to regroup. This included putting SBT on the back burner for a while. Hell, we even broke up for a bit. It’s a shame though. In October 2007 we released a very relevant record in our little neck of the metal genre (On Broken Wings). However, due to the bands' inability to get on the road and the situation our label had with their distributor, the record is fairly unknown.

So as we approach the cusp of 2009, the fire is burning again and its time to throw some coal into the engines. I have written over 167 songs in the last 4 years and have assembled what, in my humble opinion, are the very best of what I consider the best. Some of them were written to be part of the next PISSING RAZORS CD, some were written for SBT and some were just written to bang your head to a little. Regardless of origin in the writing process, the new Single Bullet Theory record Divine Ways Of Chaos is now underway.

The line up of SBT is always an interesting topic…

Unfortunately, the band has been plagued with a revolving door of musicians. When a band has one visionary, it's difficult to keep players in the same mind set regarding being a team.

I, of course, am also to blame for expecting perhaps too much from each person. Anyone who is in an independent band knows that without personal sacrifice, it's almost impossible to achieve your goal. No one is lining up to give out cash, tours, record deals…. You have to work for it. That being said, I also think it takes a level of insanity to get involved in this business. Especially if you are going to shoot for the long haul.

There are tons of obstacles, lots of slammed doors and most importantly … scrutiny. Remember, everyone’s a critic. If you intend to get involved, you better have thick skin. If I let all the negative crap that’s been said about me bother me, I'd be in an institution right now. A lot of credit goes to Mez (Bill Mez, SBT long time bassist) for his 8 plus years of steering the ship alongside me.

When we recorded On Broken Wings we were lucky enough to be graced with the presence of Darren Patrick (drums). He was able to record half the drums on the record before he had to rush off to Chattanooga, TN. to take care of his mom who had fallen ill.

Those five songs that Darren played on are without a doubt some of the best recordings in the drum department that SBT has ever had in our catalogue.

So it brings me great pleasure to announce that Darren will be playing ALL the drums on the next record. Darren's credentials run far deeper then any drummer I have come across in the metal community.

(darrenpatrick. com).

As far as guitar, Dan Loughry (POLTERCHRIST, INSATANITY) will be returning once again as the second guitarist. Dan also will be contributing some of his musical compositions to this disc. Dan played guitar for On Broken Wings so finally, we will have the same line up on two CD's in a row…This is a friggin milestone for SBT.

I can definitely say, this is without a doubt the heaviest music we have assembled and I can't wait to get this finished and into the hands of the public.

Recording will begin in Late February. We will be tracking the drums in Chattanooga at a studio near Darren. The rest of the disc will be recorded at Signal Sound Studios in Quakertown, PA with Pete Davis.

In a time where lots of small bands are using small pro-tools systems to record their music, we have decided to go into a "real” studio and record with a engineer with 25 years of experience under his belt. The record will be produced by myself and mixed by Carlos Alverez at Dirty Viking studios. Carlos is a long time friend and I know that he fully understands what we need this record to sound like.

So… I feel a little nostalgic as I type these words. It's been too long since I felt this level of excitement for this craft. I know that when this record is done, I will finally have a product that I am 100% satisfied with. Get ready for the fourth chapter in the Single Bullet Theory discography… I bring you Divine Ways Of Chaos."
