SODOM Frontman Tom Angelripper On Big Four Tour - "I Am Not Sure About METALLICA; I Think The Three Would Be Enough"
August 6, 2010, 14 years ago
SODOM frontman Tom Angelripper recently is featured in a new interview with Matowarrior's Metal Madness. An excerpt is available below.
Mattowarrior: So what do you think of the "Big Four" tour that recently happened in Europe?
Tom: "I saw SLAYER recently. I think it is a very good package. I am not sure about METALLICA though. I think the (three) would be enough - ANTHRAX, MEGADETH and Slayer. I think Metallica is a bit commercial nowadays. If I find the time, I'll see this tour if it happens again. Slayer is (always) my most important band to see. I was a Metallica fan in the eighties but its a different band now though they are still a good band."
Mattowarrior: Any chance of a "Teutonic Three" tour featuring Sodom, KREATOR and DESTRUCTION any time soon?
Tom: (Laughs) People ask me about this tour, but there's all sorts of business involved, different record companies and publishers have their own interests. We have to find a good point to do it. They (the bands) all go their own way; it would be great to see the three bands for a low cost ticket. It is a dream, but business is (always) king."

BraveWords.com scribe Carl Begai spoke with frontman/founder Tom Angelripper recently about their new hefty DVD,
Lords Of Depravity Part 2. About the band's new album, “I think it will be a lot different from the last one,” Angelripper offers. “The last Sodom album (2006) was great but the production was… I can’t really explain why it bothers me. This time we have a producer, Waldemar Sorychta, who is like the fourth member of Sodom. He’s going to work with each of us individually. I don’t like the digital recordings where one band sounds like the next. Sodom has its own style. It’s like listening to an old Venom; you just hear one guitar and you know it’s them. We want to have a modern production but in an old school way.”
