SWALLOW THE SUN - First Two Studio Albums To Re Reissued In The UK
June 11, 2009, 15 years ago
Finnish metallers SWALLOW THE SUN will have their first two albums released through Spinefarm Records UK on July 27th.
Titled The Morning Never Came (originally released in 2003) and Ghosts Of Loss (2005), these atmospheric outings see the Finnish sextet – and in particular guitarist/main songwriter Juha Raivio – developing the mix of crushingly heavy doom and aching melody that was to identify their subsequent releases, with 2008’s Plague Of Butterflies album being the most recent.
Swallow The Sun played their first ever UK show on the main stage at the Bloodstock 2008 festival, following that long-awaited appearance with a full UK tour later the same year, Special Guesting with fellow Finns APOCALYPTICA.
Prior to this, in 2007, the band went straight into the Finnish Top 3 with the album Hope, which still stands as a classic recording – unequivocal proof that Doom Metal doesn’t have to be lacking in either melody or invention.
Swallow The Sun recently amicably parted ways with drummer Pasi Pasanen, who has been replaced by Kai Hahto (WINTERSUN, ex-ROTTEN SOUND). Hahto will be playing on the upcoming album as well as touring with the band during the Summer. He previously filled in for Pasanen during the band’s 2007 North American tour.
A new studio album is scheduled for November of this year.
