THE 69 EYES' Jyrki 69 To Guest DJ For Fangtasia II In New Orleans
June 26, 2012, 12 years ago
Last year, lead singer Jyrki 69 of Finnish goth metallers THE 69 EYES and an army of DJs from the infamous New Orleans dark scene DJ’d at a now-legendary club night. For one night, Fangtasia bridged the spaces between reality and imagination. This year, they're back with reinforcements. Fangtasia II is coming.
On Saturday, July 21st at 9 PM, the renowned Gothic troubadour AURELIO VOLTAIRE joins DJ Jyrki 69 for a special acoustic set at 1135 Decatur - a venue long home to New Orleans' raucous goth, industrial, metal, and vampire scenes. To up the stakes, Voltaire will bring his eclectic brand of dark gypsy rock to the stage in between sets by the best DJs the South has to offer.
Anticipating his return to New Orleans, Jyrki 69 said, "Vampires, voodoo, and Elvis' King Creole — New Orleans is the home of all dreams for The 69 Eyes! There's no better way to return to the city of my dreams then party 'til the dawn DJing again at Fangtasia!"
Fangtasia begins at 9 PM on Saturday, July 21st at 1135 Decatur in New Orleans. Check out Fantasia II’s Facebook event page for full details.
The 69 Eyes are currently finishing in the studio their 10th studio album. The album will called X and it will come in September/October through RCA/Sony Music in Finland and Nuclear Blast in Europe and North America.
The album is said to be melancholic and melodic in the best 69 EYES way, referring to their "goth'n'roll" albums Blessed Be (2000) and Paris Kills (2002).
The Finns have teamed up with the Swedish production team On The Verge to bring back the beauty in their sound.
