BW&BK; recently hooked up with Hamilton, Ontario's THREAT SIGNAL frontman Jon Howard to discuss the band's forthcoming album, Under Reprisal, due to be issued through Nuclear Blast on May 26th. One topic of discussion was how the band ended up getting signed to the label:

Howard: “Nuclear Blast came straight to us; we didn’t send press kits out or anything. In 2004 we uploaded ‘Rational Eyes’ onto the internet (at www.garageband.com), and it was a trial to see what people thought about what we were doing. It was like, ‘We love our songs, we love our music, what about everyone else?’ I was shocked; it went straight to #1 on Garage Band. Everyone flipped over it and that’s how Nuclear Blast found us. They emailed me saying they wanted to hear more songs so I sent them a couple more and they were sold. It was like, ‘Here’s a deal.., ’ right away. We negotiated with them for about a year, which was a long and painful process, and I think they hated us because it was taking so long (laughs), but we weren’t jumping into anything. Things have worked out well, though.”

“Everything’s coming so fast. I mean, with the Nuclear Blast deal we didn’t even have a band and they didn’t know it. Threat Signal was only three guys and we were sitting at home making these killer songs on computer. Our CD isn’t even out yet, we’ve only played a handful of shows, we’ve never toured so we’re nothing really, and we’ve been put on a major European festival (Earthshaker Festival) without having an album out. And we’ve got the Soilwork tour for August in the U.S. and Canada. We’ve only done about 20 shows in our career, so this is a trip.”
