TIGERTAILZ To Perform Entire Bezerk Album At Newcastle Gig
March 30, 2010, 14 years ago
Welsh rockers TIGERTAILZ have scheduled a headlining date at Legends in Newcastle, England on Friday, July 2nd.
A message reads, "It's been a while since Tigertailz headlined at Newcastle and we can't wait to have them back!! They've promised to play the entire Bezerk album. More details to follow - but we wanted to give you a heads up."
Support on the date will come from NEW GENERATION SUPERSTARS and BONE IDLE.
The Welsh rockers recently reported:
Tigertailz return to live action in a blaze of hometown glory on Saturday, April 17th. The Welsh rabble rousers will take popular rock club Fuel by storm - and this time the fun will all be for a good cause.
Not only will this sure-to-be-stellar show mark the debut of new bass player Sarah Firebrand, but it will also pay tribute to band co-founder Pepsi Tate, with all proceeds going to Amser Justin Time, the cancer charity set up in the bassist's memory.
As if that wasn't enough, the show is also set to be recorded for inclusion on a forthcoming Tigertailz live album. Due for release later in 2010, the album will mark 20 years since the legendary Bezerk, the band performing all of its classic tracks while naturally adding their own modern and constantly evolving twist.
Frontman Kim Hooker comments: "This is gonna be massive. It's a chance for all you Tailz maniacs to scream yourself hoarse and be a real part of our new record. It's gonna be an emotional hometown show and we need you all there - nice."
Guitarist Jay Pepper, who started the band with Tate back in 1986, says: "We always wanted to do a special show for Amser Justin Time, the charity started by Pepsi's wife Shân Cothi, which does such great work in raising both awareness and funds to tackle pancreatic cancer. This is the perfect opportunity. Hopefully our fans, who've already proven how generous they are with their own 'Boys Night Out' event last year, will help the charity by buying tickets and help us by singing their hearts out."
As previously reported, Cross Country Murder Song, the debut novel by Philip Wilding, has been dedicated to Pepsi Tate.
Wilding, the renowned rock scribe, radio producer, presenter and bounder was a close friend of the great man and when it came to a dedication, Pepsi was one of two important figures in Philip's life that he felt had to be given their due.
Already critically acclaimed by 'proper' papers no less, Cross Country Murder Song is published by Jonathan Cape/Random House, available from February 25th from all good high street book and online stores.
A novel description can be read below:
'The horror, indeed - this is gasoline sodden rock n' roll in paperback form!
On a journey from the Jersey Shore to the Pacific Ocean the driver crosses an America twisted beyond all recognition, as if in a fevered dream. He is pursued by ghosts of his traumatic past and the police, who have discovered the disturbing secret in his basement.
On and off the road, we glimpse the lives of people who are touched by the driver in one way or another - a porn star who can no longer perform; a widower looking for love; two parents who return day after day to the spot where their son was killed. Speeding past and stopping off along the way, the driver meddles, mixes and murders, heading towards the edge of the New World and to his own macabre realisation of the American Dream.
Cross Country Murder Song is a unique and visceral novel from a new voice in contemporary noir. Gripping, relentless and impossible to put down, it is a 21st-century road trip to the heart of darkness. A brilliantly ghoulish evocation of the American road trip - long days and longer nights set under the domed sky of one nation under God with one thing for certain; there's no way back.
