April 21, 2008, 16 years ago
Philadelphia's grindcore power house TOTAL FUCKING DESTRUCTION have announced the reissue of the album 'Compact Disc Version 1.0 in sliding scale download format through Canada's Moshpit Tragedy Records. Visitors to the label's website can pay as much or as little as they like - even free - for a high quality mp3 version of this classic album, which comes complete with print-ready artwork and instructions how to make your own sleeve.
The band has issued the following statement about the release: "Total Fucking Destruction has observed the coming together of technology and entertainment corporations to steal the soul of underground DIY music. We've witnessed first-hand the effects of corporations posing as "underground/alternative/extreme" culture and the globalized marketing of 'niche music genre' scene cultures. Total Fucking Destruction longs for a world of direct and instant communication between musician and listener. Towards these ends, Total Fucking Destruction is honored and totally psyched to join with Moshpit Tragedy Records for a worldwide sliding scale download release of Compact Disc Version 1.0. Fuck yeah!"
Total Fucking Destruction was formed by Rich Hoak (BRUTAL TRUTH) as a personal platform to express his indignant world views and initially released three independent recordings and allowed them to be freely distributed throughout the underground. The albums were later mastered by Scott Hull (PIG DESTROYER) along with an unreleased live set and released as 'Compact Disc Version 1.0'.
