As reported earlier today, MÖTLEY CRÜE bassist Nikki Sixx unveiled his book Heroin Diaries - The Life Of A Shattered Rock Star on September 27th at Borders- Downtown Crossing in Boston. Hundreds of fans lined up at 9 A.M. to get a wristband for the event. Due to time restrictions, Nikki had to leave for Toronto on a 4:20 PM plane from Logan; so only 300 lucky fans were able to receive a wristband.

The Nikki Sixx - Heroin Diaries book signing ran from 1 PM - 3 PM. During that time period, Nikki graciously signed copies of his new book to an age group that ranged from infants, early teenagers, and dedicated Mötley Crüe fans. Boston-based scribe Deb Rao had the opportunity to talk with a few fans that had waited four hours to get their book signed. One man told me, he had waited twenty years to meet Nikki Sixx; well his dream finally came true today.

Boston has always been a huge market for Mötley Crüe. As the overwhelming group of fans showed their support at today's book signing. One lady even brought her baby, as Nikki commented, "I have a six year old". What was most inspiring about the event today was how Nikki Sixx let down his mega-rock star image and seemed ever so real, as he listened to his fans tell him how he has changed their lives with the release of his book.

Nikki commented recently: "I don't know why I am still alive?" Anyone could see today, the man who almost lost his life to his addiction has overcome his demons to help the youth of America not make the same mistake that he did.

Just like in the Mötley Crüe song 'Home Sweet Home', 'My heart's like an open book for the whole world to read,' Nikki's life is now in print, for the world to read. Nikki added: "If I change one life, I have made a difference. I had so many people comment on how life changing they feel the lyrics on the soundtrack to Heroin Diaries"and book is. One person told me, they were on the verge of suicide until they heard the song. That is why we make music right there, in a nutshell."

There also was a raffle of the newly Heroin Diaries Ovation guitar, which resembles the book. Today, Mötley Crüe bass player Nikki Sixx is on a mission to help the youth of America not make the same mistakes that he did. In a world, that looks up to musicians, actors, and athletes, what better way to get the message across with someone who has lived through the horrors of addiction, and has completely turned his life around with his knowledge and strength. It was inspiring today, to see the man behind the legend and new book greet fans and listen to their stories. Mötley Crüe has always been larger than life, and today the man behind the music proved that he is just as real, and honest as his book.

As previously reported Nikki will be signing copies of his new book, The Heroin Diaries, in Toronto, ON at Chapters Festival Hall (142 John St. at Richmond) today (Friday, September 28th) at 7PM. 25% of The Heroin Diaries book royalties will go directly to Covenant House - a charity dedicated to providing shelter and other services to homeless, runaway and throwaway youth.
