On Sunday, December 5th, Nashville's 12th & Porter is hosting a holiday Benefit Concert For The Williamson County Literacy Council's efforts to raise awareness and funds for its GED and education programs. These benefit programs are offered to prison inmates and provide an educational requirement. The programs are in danger and in need of funds. A number of artists from BLACK SABBATH, QUIET RIOT, DIO, WHITESNAKE, RATT and OZZY OSBOURNE are joining together for the benefit.

The all-star band is composed of the following hard rockers:

- Vinny Appice (DIO, Black Sabbath, HEAVEN & HELL) – drums
- Carlos Cavazo (Quiet Riot, Ratt) - guitar
- Rudy Sarzo (Quiet Riot, Whitesnake, Ozzy Osbourne, Dio) - bass
- Scott Warren (Dio, Black Sabbath, Heaven & Helll) - keyboards
- Chas West (JASON BONHAM) - vocals
"When I got the call, I jumped at the opportunity to participate with Jailhouse Rock," said Sarzo. "That old cliché fits in this case - insanity is expecting the same results by repeating the same thing over and over again. If you keep locking people up and then don't offer some kind of training program, the results get worse. You gotta give these people a hand up. The outcome has to be better than it is now. With an education program and a job, everyone wins."

Williamson County resident Brent Ware, who organized the Jailhouse Rock benefit, said, "In jail you are stuck in an abyss but if the funds are there, the educational programs will get results. There is a lack of funds to pay for the tests involved. Each test costs $65 and the show has the possibility of changing lives, benefiting the community we call Nash-burg and introduce onstage some of the best rockers I know."

12th & Porter is located at 114 12th Avenue North. General admission for the two-plus-hour hour benefit is $25. There is a special VIP offer for $50 where there is a scheduled meet-and-greet and show rehearsal seating.

There are other guest artists performing, including Kip Winger (WINGER), Mark Slaughter (SLAUGHTER), John Jorgenson (THE DESERT ROSE BAND) and a few local musicians will do a half-hour acoustic/electro set a la LED ZEPPELIN. The all-star Jailhouse Rock Band will follow suit and expect an "unannounced guest player (or two) sitting in."
