WHILE HEAVEN WEPT To Headline Raleigh Benefit For Metal Promoter Tony "Dio" Leonardo
February 9, 2011, 13 years ago
On Saturday, March 26th, Virginia’s WHILE HEAVEN WEPT will be headlining a benefit concert at Volume 11 Tavern in Raleigh, North Carolina, for Tony “Dio” Leonardo, a local metal promoter who recently underwent a nephrectomy.
While Heaven Wept guitarist & founding member Tom Phillips shares the following: “Tony’s family. He works at a music store and organizes lots of metal fests in the area, so he’s a good friend to lots of bands. All of us know he’s been a lifelong DIO fan and because of this, we gave him the nickname ‘Dio’... and it's all meant with the deepest of respect. Doctors found a lesion on his kidney, which had to get removed, so we’re doing the benefit to help offset his medical expenses.”
Other bands performing include TWISTED TOWER DIRE, WIDOW, HELLRAZOR and DARK DESIGN.
The benefit show is All Ages. Doors open at 7 PM and the entrance fee is $7.

They’re confirmed to perform on the center stage at the ProgPowerUSA XII festival on Saturday, September 17th in Atlanta, Georgia.
