First things first with Cattle Decapitation: this band is vegan to the core, not consuming any animal products nor byproducts whatsoever. Veganism is a noble and difficult lifestyle choice to be sure (one our own Greg Pratt has taken on!), but in the end being a vegan will probably save you from colon cancer. That little manifesto isn't without reason: you need to understand the vegan aspect to in order to appreciate where Cattle Decapitation is coming from. Sometimes the group sounds like it would rather murder a human than kill an animal and, despite that bit of metaphorical manslaughter, Humanure is still a fantastic and solid listen through and through. Whereas 2002's To Serve Man was a muddled, super-aggressive mess, Humanure is a razor-sharp thrash-grind assault, combining almost equal parts Exodus and Pig Destroyer. This is a huge leap forward for Cattle Decapitation, a maturation process that has occurred faster than it takes to grill a tofu burger.
