COPROFAGO - Unorthodox Creative Criteria

Lots of hype surrounding Coprofago, called everything from Atheist II to Meshuggah’s prequel. And while those kinds of words are definitely on the hyperbolic side, they are also completely deserved, Coprofago stalking and menacing with its technical chops and detached, avant-garde approach fully in check. From mechanical rhythm guitar work to jazzy space odysseys, Coprofago is all over the map in terms of flavours, but also manages to keep each of Unorthodox Creative Criteria’s 13 tracks flowing smoothly, ensuring that its skill doesn’t overshadow its songwriting ability. There’s a lot of to like on this record, not the least of which is Coprofago’s willingness to twist, turn and malign with each of its stylistic shifts.
