March 2, 2014, 10 years ago
Larry Russell has played with BILLY JOEL and appeared on stage with BRYAN ADAMS, but it's his long time friendship with former KISS guitarist, ACE FREHLEY, that got him written about in Ace's No Regrets book. Rock journalist, Mitch Lafon, connected with Larry to discuss his friendship with Ace (that started in 1966 and continues to this day). In this part one of a two part interview series, Larry discusses meeting Ace in school, sitting in on KISS rehearsals before the band was signed, being at KISS' Dressed To Kill recording sessions, finding Anton Fig, unreleased tracks from Ace's 1978 'KISS' solo album and generally walks the listener through his years with Ace from 1966 to 1980.
Part 1 also includes Larry's take on the current KISS/Rock N Roll Hall Of Fame situation as well as Ace recording at Larry's studio in 2013 (for Ace's upcoming album). In the coming days, Part 2 will be available which focuses on 1980 to the present.
