AEROSMITH Bassist Tom Hamilton On Music From Another Dimension Album - "We Definitely Didn’t Have That Immediate Acceptance Of It By The Fans"

Aerosmith’s most recent album, the 2012 release Music From Another Dimension, didn’t come close to achieving the success the band expected, reports Detroit Free Press' Alan Sculley.
Singer Steven Tyler, during a teleconference interview to promote a summer tour that preceded the November 2012 release of the album, went so far as to say he felt Music from Another Dimension could go five singles deep. Four singles were ultimately released, but only one, “Lonely Child”, even cracked the top 20 on Billboard’s rock singles chart. First-week sales of just 65,000 were also disappointing, and the album soon faded from the charts.
“We definitely didn’t have that immediate acceptance of it by the fans,” Aerosmith bassist Tom Hamilton acknowledged in a recent phone interview. “Unfortunately, the leadership of our record company was coming apart when it came out, and there just were some things going on that didn’t lead to a real organized release or promotion.”
The lackluster response to Music from Another Dimension led two band members — guitarist Joe Perry and drummer Joey Kramer — to question in recent interviews whether Aerosmith should make any more albums, but Hamilton is more optimistic.
“I know what we need to do different on the next record, and I feel a lot more confident that there will be another one. I think the smart thing for this band would be to do it within the next year or two.”Read more at Detroit Free Press.
