The Boston Globe (www.boston.com) has issued the following brief report from Carol Beggy & Mark Shanahan:

AEROSMITH publicist Mitch Schneider e-mailed us yesterday to announce that the Boston rockers are getting back to work on a new album, and they've chosen Armed Forces Day - May 20th - to get back to work.

"We're going in with guns ablazing!" says Steven Tyler in the statement. (The singer's been recovering from throat surgery.) What Schneider didn't say is that the CD's being produced by Steve Lillywhite, who's worked with U2 and MORRISSEY.

Aerosmith bassist Tom Hamilton recently told TheRockRadio.com that the band would be back on tour in September, and they should be able to bang out a new album fairly easily: "You know, we're being positive and ambitious, and we'll see how much we can get done between now and then. I don't see any reason why we couldn't - we've got a bunch of material that we really love that we just haven't used in the past, so we can use a few of those as a starting point, and then write a bunch of new ones."

Aerosmith was forced to cancel a bunch of shows on their spring tour after frontman Steven Tyler suffered a broken blood vessel in his voice box. He recently told rollingstone.com that the injury is all healed.
