AMON AMARTH - New Interview Available
October 12, 2008, 16 years ago
HallOfMetal.com recently spoke with AMON AMARTH bassist Ted Lundstrom about the band's new album, Twilight Of The Thunder God. The following is an excerpt from the interview.
HoM: One of the things that surprised me the most about this new album is the soloist guitar work, more melodic than expected if we compare it with your previous releases. Has it been done on purpose?
Ted: "I think you could say it’s a little bit on purpose, but still, the fact is that we very rarely plan how the album will sound, we just play whatever comes up and we like. This time we had a lot of really melodic shit we felt strong about and in the end ended up on the album."
HoM: I also want to point the new album sounds more straight fordward and killer than before. Do you agree?
Ted: "Yes I definitely agree, we came up with a lot of fist in your face riffs that sounded really good together with the melodic parts."
HoM: APOCALYPTICA are special guests in one song of the album and actually it has been a pleasant surpise because it's a great tune. What can you tell us about this? Do you have in mind to do something similar again in the future?
Ted: "This was a really successful cooperation in my opinion. I don’t remember who came up with the idea in the first place, but we thought that some cello and shit would be cool in the song and decided to ask them if they were interested. They just came home from a US tour and and a couple of days of anyway. It was very fun and I think that we probably could do something similar in the future."
