ANTHRAX Drummer Charlie Benante On Worship Music - "The Record Is Way More Than What I Expected It To Be"

Radio Metal recently spoke with ANTHRAX drummer Charlie Benante about the band's new album, Worship Music. An excerpt is available below:
Radio Metal: How do you feel about releasing Worship Music at last, after the release has been postponed so many times?
Benante: "How do I feel about it… I feel good. It’s been a long time, and I think that the record is finally at the point where it’s presentable, and we can, you know, put it out there for everyone."
Radio Metal: Does it live up to what you were expecting from this band’s line-up?
Benante: "Oh you know what? At this point the record is way more than what I expected it to be, so I’m extremely happy with it."
Radio Metal: The title of the album is what seems to have always remained the same through the years and the changes. Have you had any doubt at some point about whether you had to keep the name or not?
Benante: "No, I always wanted to keep the title, because it meant a lot, especially to me. The whole Worship Music thing… If I break it down to you, you would understand that the title itself 'Worship Music' is all about music lovers, whether they’re heavy metal fans, just hard rock fans, just music fans in general. They’re the bond that you have with you fans, and your fans pretty much worship everything that you do. And there are certain fans out there that love maybe three bands. But of those three bands, they will get everything from these bands! Everything that these bands put out. And it’s a full devotion and love. It’s a form of worship. And that’s how I am too, with a lot of the bands that I still love to this day. Like, for me, THE BEATLES for instance. I worship the Beatles. If it wasn’t for the Beatles, I’d not be here. And I don’t say that as a joke, I mean that. And that’s why Worship Music means that much to me, it’s because I understand it, and I live my life that way."
