AT THE GATES Singer Tomas Lindberg On Passing Of ENTOMBED’s L-G Petrov - “It Was Horrible; His Death Affected Me So Much”
July 30, 2021, 3 years ago
During our upcoming Streaming For Vengeance conversation with At The Gates singer Tomas Lindberg, he spoke about his 35-year friendship with legendary Entombed/Entombed A.D. singer, Lars-Göran “L-G” Petrov, who tragically passed away on Sunday, March 7th at the age of 49 after a battle with incurable bile duct cancer.
“It was horrible,” Lindberg remarks, clearly still in pain. “His death affected me so much. I mean, I’ve had close friends/musicians die before on me - Jon (Nödtveidt) from Dissection, Jesse (Pentad) from Napalm, Mieszko (Talarczyk) from Nasum, Henke (Frykman) from Disfear (my bandmate); their passings are all sad. The thing with L.G. is that I knew him since 1986, and he was exactly as old as I am, came from the same background, there are so many similarities that it makes it feel like this was the first one of my people, so-to-speak, and to pass in such a tragic way. And the fact that he was also in contact with people up to the very last minute. He was calling and texting right up until the very end. trying to reach everybody. A great person has left us and one of the best front-men in metal for sure. In metal in general.”
Tomas Lindberg will guest on BraveWords' Streaming For Vengeance tomorrow (Saturday, July 31st) at 3:33 PM EST. He also talks about the band's world-wide chart-crashing new album, The Nightmare Of Being. You can watch/listen Streaming For Vengeance on our Facebook page or our YouTube channel.
