We will be counting down until New Year's some of the finest slabs of metal this past year had to offer, voted by the devout scribes here at BraveWords.com! What does "slab" actually mean? We're talking studio albums. No compilations, rerecordings, live albums etc… Just pure metal, all killer no filler!

9) WORLD UNDER BLOOD – Tactical (Nuclear Blast)

WORLD UNDER BLOOD, the melodic death metal side project featuring CKY guitarist/vocalist Deron Miller alongside Tim Yeung (DIVINE HERESY, ex-HATE ETERNAL) on drums, Luke Jaeger (ex-SLEEP TERROR) on guitar and latest addition bassist Kyle Konkiel (ex-IN THIS MOMENT), released their debut album Tactical, in July.

Miller remarked: "Personally, I love this record and am very pleased with it. It's probably the first album I've worked on where I truly don't care what anyone else thinks. I'll be blasting it for years and I'm confident you will too."

Guitarist-turned-producer James Murphy (DEATH, TESTAMENT), who worked on Tactical added: "World Under Blood bridge a gap between genres that has never been bridged... a few have tried with mixed results, but this is the first real resounding success off using brutal, blasting death metal with a melodic American rock vibe and it opens a door that will turn into a floodgate.”
