For an upcoming Streaming For Vengeance interview this Saturday, BraveWords caught up with multi-instrumentalist Scott McClellan and vocal powerhouse Susie Hoffman Beahm from Breed Of Aggression last week to talk about their debut album, This Is My War, out worldwide now via Dark Star Records. 

“You listen to the music itself, it’s very aggressive,” McClellan describes the project. “A lot of it I wanted to ave a Judas Priest feel to it, when I started writing. It also has that Machine Head kind of growl to it. And then Susie came in with her powerful vocals. We thought of 30-40 names for this project and we didn’t like any of them. And just by mixing and matching a couple of ames, it fit. And Breed Of Aggression fits the music. I’ve always been a very attack-y player. And her voice fits it perfectly.”

When asked about creating music as a two-piece, McClellan says that there is “no drama. Susie and I make all the decisions together of where it’s going. We work well, we don’t argue. We talk well and it’s simple.”

It’s match made in heaven,” Susie continues.” We are both professional and have a lot of years behind us. We know what we are doing. We’ve been there. We’ve dealt with the egos. It’s much easier when you work together and are more respectful. I respected the music that Scott made, it was easy.”

McClellan also talks in great length about working with former Black Sabbath singer Tony Martin on his new Thorns solo album, due out January 14th, 2022 in all of North and South America by Dark Star Records.

Hailing from the Midwest, Breed Of Aggression is a new heavy metal project founded by Scott McClellan and Susie Hoffman Beahm.

An accomplished guitarist and songwriter, Scott McClellan's solo album Brutal Intentions was released on Dark Star Records in 2019. He is the featured guitarist on ex-Black Sabbath frontman Tony Martin’s forthcoming solo album Thorns, set for 2022 release on Dark Star Records. In addition to Pantera tribute bands Domination and Cemeterygatez: America’s Number One Pantera Tribute Band, Scott has played in The Brain Chiggers and Brotherhood of Spine. McClellan is also an in-demand session guitarist and songwriter.

Susie Hoffman Beahm has been a staple in the music industry for over twenty years, teaming with top manufacturers on instruments that support children's discovery in the classroom and beyond. An advocate of school music programs and women's growth in the music industry, Susie frequently volunteers her time toward related causes. She has done session work on a variety of musical projects and is a member of the indie band Natural Oil and Heathen Soul.
