BRET MICHAELS BAND Guitarist Pete Evick Issues New Update
May 10, 2010, 14 years ago
BRET MICHAELS bandmate, guitarist Pete Evick has issued the following update:
"I wanted to pop back on and personally thank you for the kind words and appreciation I received for my post during this tragic time. Also for how well received the song 'Wasted Time' has been from all of you, Bret's fans. Working on that song really gave me an emotional outlet during this hard time. We have so much other music that Bret is excited to share with you. Unfortunately because of Bret's medical issues some of it will have to be heard later, due to deadlines for the Custom Built albums release date. In particular was an amazing cover of HANK WILLIAMS JR.'s 'Family Tradition'. What is finished and was able to be finalized, was a killer cover of 'What I Got' from SUBLIME. Bret loves Sublime, as well as that song, and was real excited about where he was taking it when this tragedy happened. I believe everyone is gonna love it.I imagine I'm not alone when I say that all of us, who are either personally close to Bret or those connected to him through the gift of music, have used this time to reflect on life and how precious it is. In my previous letter, I mentioned how hard Bret works. So its funny that Im about to let you guys, as his fans, behind the curtain a little. Coming from me, the fan, not the guitar player. I remember when we were working on Wasted Time and the line "The same road that caries me, is not the one that buries me" came out. It gave me chills. It was one of those moments when you feel like something important just happened. Was it a moment of clairvoyance? Even today, as I listened, there is a haunting sound in the emotion he delivers in that line. Similar to the rawness as he sang "My best friend died a lonely man in some Palm Springs hotel room”, in 'Something To Believe In', about his security guard at that time KIMO."

As previously reported, Bret Michales' new ballad 'Wasted Time' is available on . The track was recorded before his recent health scares and will be included on his forthcoming solo album, Custom Built, due out later this year. The track's lyrics are eerie to say the least:
"Lately I just ain't been myself," he begins. "Lately I've been feeling something else / There's a time to hurt, a time to heal."On CNN's Larry King Live on Thursday, May 6th, US television personality Larry King discussed Michaels' health issues with guests Poison drummer Rikki Rockett, BRET MICHAELS BAND guitarist Pete Evick and the neurosurgeon treating Micheals, Dr. Joseph Zabramski.
About Michaels current condition following a brain hemorrhage, Zabramski says he's "doing really well, but still suffering a great deal." He expects a 100% recovery and Michaels will resume all activity.
Evick says that Michaels "is a little slower than I'm used to seeing him, but he realizes how lucky he is to be alive. Bret has every intention to continue, heal and show the world he's here to rock."
Adds Rockett: "I don't think he should be operating any heavy machinery or dancing with the stars right now. At times he's upbeat, but he was going crazy in the hospital. After going into rehab he sounds a whole lot better. He's the Evel Knievel of hard rock singers."
Rockett also remarked that that he and Bret had spoken about the band's 25th Anniversary next year and they have every intention to celebrate it next summer.
