BRUCE DICKINSON Says He Is Working On A Remix Of Skunkworks
January 23, 2024, 11 months ago
Loudwire's Joe DiVita sat down with Bruce Dickinson of Iron Maiden at Brooklyn's Saint Vitus Bar to discuss The Mandrake Project, Bruce's upcoming solo album and accompanying series of comic books. Bruce chats about how the idea for a comic began, it's dark story, working with songwriting partner Roy Z on the solo album and how it's different from writing with Iron Maiden, his first-ever recorded guitar solo and a lot more.
During the chat, Bruce revealed he’s working on a remix and Dolby Atmos mix of his 1996 album Skunkworks. The album is known for having a hard/alternative rock sound that was a departure from his previous material.
Skunkworks featured the lineup of Dickinson on vocals, Alex Dickson on guitar, Chris Dale on bass, and Alessandro Elena on drums.
Across ten inventive, expansive and absorbing tracks, Dickinson and his long-term co-writer and producer Roy Z, have created one of 2024’s defining rock albums. Sonically heavy and rich in musical textures, The Mandrake Project sees Bruce bring to life a musical vision long-in-the-making, and features some of the finest vocal performances of his career.
Recorded largely at LA’s Doom Room with Roy Z doubling up as both guitarist and bassist, the lineup for The Mandrake Project was rounded out by keyboard maestro Mistheria and drummer Dave Moreno, both of whom also featured on Bruce’s last solo studio album, Tyranny Of Souls, in 2005.
The Mandrake Project is Dickinson’s seventh solo album. It will be released via BMG worldwide on multiple formats. Pre-order here.
