CANNIBAL CORPSE’s GEORGE "CORPSEGRINDER" FISHER Says The Death Metal Scene Is “Just As Healthy As It’s Ever Been”

Elliott Fullam of Little Punk People recently caught up with George "Corpsegrinder" Fisher of Cannibal Corpse to talk about the band's upcoming tour which starts in Atlanta, Georgia on February 18.

The two talked about how the band's music has helped so many people over the years, with Corpsegrinder commenting:

"They find some kind of inspiration in it. That's what music does. It doesn't have to be a song that sings about flowers and daisies to make it mean something to you."

He continued with:

"It's the song, it's the beat, and it’s the pulse. Sometimes it's the lyrics. Sometimes they're inspiring. Sometimes they seem not so inspiring but you find the inspiration in the darkness."

Towards the end of the interview at the 17:30 mark, Corpsegrinder shot back at original Cannibal Corpse and current Six Feet Under singer Chris Barnes following his recent negative comments towards the current death metal scene which seemed to be aimed directly at Corpsegrinder among other death metal singers:

"The scene is just as healthy as it's ever been. It's just as great as it's ever been. It's not dead, it's not terrible, I'm proud of the death metal scene today. I'm so proud of it, I think it's amazing. I think there's so many great bands."

And he continued with:

"The scene couldn't be better. And anyone who thinks otherwise...kiss rocks. Because I'm so proud of the death metal scene."
