Don Linneman, vocalist for Temecula, California's DARK HAVEN, who earned the #1 spot in BW&BK;'s 2006 list of Brave Underground indie submissions, has issued the following update:

"Alright, I write this today long overdue from my desk at work. Here it goes.

So as you all know by now, I am the new lead singer of Dark Haven. My name's Donald Linneman, my friends call me Don. Three months and three shows into it, I am glad to be a part of this band. I am having the time of my life and meeting tons of new people and making more friends than ever before. For starters, I come from a long background of different bands, but my style of vocals have remained pretty much the same but with (I would say drastic) improvement(s) in tone and range. I started out in my first bedroom band (one-step below garage band) about 7 years ago. I went through just about every musical genre you can think of (excluding polka!) from screamo to death metal. I now sit at the apex of my singing career thus far with a melodic death metal band (of the European style for you catagorical elitists) that goes by the name of Dark Haven. I can only see things going up from here and I definitely look forward to evolving and growing with Brennan, Nate, Ryan, Amy, and Kent as a band.

My influences range from old school Gothenburg death metal such as AT THE GATES all the way to more modern melo-death like THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER (I should put an emphasis on the last band, because jesus christ, if you know me at all, or if you don't yet, you'll soon find out that I'm OBSESSED with TBDM).

Anyways...

As for what Dark Haven has in the works for you guys... it's going to be amazing. We've got some new merch coming, a semi-national tour in one week(!) and a brand new song that we're going to unleash while we're on tour. It's by far the heaviest out of all the Dark Haven songs with a new tone. You're all going to love it, I guarantee it. The energy that courses through the practice room everytime that songs comes up is amazing. AND we're going to be re-recording some old songs as well as some new songs once we get back from tour! Dark Haven is far from dead and I can guarantee you're only going to be hearing more of us in the future.
