DAVE NAVARRO - "I Avoid Sugar Like It's Heroin"
February 10, 2007, 17 years ago
THE PANIC CHANNEL guitarist DAVE NAVARRO recently took part in a Q&A; with one of The Suicide Girls named Addie.
1. Now, what is the story with The Hat? It looked great on you but... Would have loved to see you without it as well!
"No real story... Just feeling the hat this tour."2. Heard ROCK STAR SUPERNOVA added 'Suffragette City' to the mix and you played lead guitar... will you guys continue that, I'd love to see that one in Portland.
"I have done it when they asked and just kind of got up there and rocked it with them. It's not a real "part of the show" or a "thing"... It's one of those moments that happens every now and again when you are out on tour with a band for a while. You end up jamming at one time or another."3. Did you eat the treats I sent to the bus?
"Well, I avoid sugar like it's heroin, but Steve Isaacs (vocalist) put quite a dent in them! We had to pry one of the tins away from his hands while he was asleep one night. We all thank you very much Angel."4. How do you sleep in the bus when someone else is snoring?
"Well, frankly, I don't ever sleep on it while it is moving. I let everyone else go to sleep and around 7:00-8:00am when the bus stops, I go to sleep and wake up around 4:00pm. I avoid the snoring, the moving, the motor sound, the windy roads and I don't have to occupy myself all day. I get up, shower and play a show. At night I just watch movies, talk on the phone and dig into some quiet personal time."5. Have you been reading the reviews and how do you deal with this crap?
"It's funny! You know, I don't think any writer is going to come to a concert that was spawned from a TV show with the intention of enjoying themselves. The bottom line is this: We are doing what we love... These poor bastards are having to spend their personal time writing about something they claim they don't like. How sad is that? I know that if I didn't like something, I hate to have to go home and spend more time on it just to make rent. Don't worry boys... I'm sure that big book deal is just around the corner!"
