Back in October 2020, Whitesnake frontman David Coverdale revealed he had been in contact with Jimmy Page about a 30th Anniversary rerelease of their eponymous collaboration from 1993. Coverdale made the comments while talking to eonmusic about Whiteshake’s Love Songs set, which was released in November 2020 via Rhino Records.

Coverdale: "My time with Jimmy was amazing. We spoke a couple of weeks ago, in fact, I'm probably going to speak to him this weekend. I think we're probably going to be looking at an anniversary issue in '23."

On the content that might go into a Coverdale/Page deluxe edition; “I think you're in for some nice surprises. Jimmy and I have been talking about it, and we'll have the original album remastered, and we've got a bunch of songs we didn't release, and I videoed most of the writing and recording scenario, and all the way to the shows in Osaka and stuff, so, there's a shit load of content. But one of the things I suggested to him, I said; "why don't you do a Jimmy Page mix on the record, and I'll do a David Coverdale mix, and let the fans just get Jimmy's perspective, and mine."

Guesting on 107.7 The Bone's Lamont & Tonelli program last week, Coverdale offered an update on the proposed release:

"Jimmy and I worked very well creatively, as you can hear, and we had another four or five songs which were unmixed. And I said, 'Jimmy, I've got all these other ideas. Let's just do a Coverdale/Page 2 or let's make a double album.' And sadly, his manager at the time talked him out of it, which was infuriating. However, some of those songs that I had to present to Jimmy are on the Restless Heart record... two of 'em. It was 'Take Me Back Again' and 'Woman Trouble Blues'. Those were originally ideas for Jimmy and I, had we made a second album. But in 2023 it's the 30th anniversary, so look for something special. It's gonna be a lot of fun."
