London-based progressive doom-metallers DE PROFUNDIS have issued the following update from guitarist Roman Subbotin:

"I hope everyone has had a good winter break and has so far enjoyed a good start to 2009! We've been quiet for a while, and now it seems like a good time to 'let the cat out of the bag', so to speak, and provide a news update. It's been really busy here behind the scenes and 2009 should be a big year for De Profundis.

First off, the really really big news - De Profundis will be supporting IRON MAIDEN at the Rock In India concert on February 15th in Bangalore!!! We are extremely grateful to have been given this opportunity to perform alongside one of the greatest ever bands. We are also really looking forward to playing our music to Indian metalheads!

Tickets and more info on Rock in India are available here

Secondly, a new official De Profundis website has been launched and can be accessed at www.deprofundisdoom.com. It comes as a result of collaboration between ourselves and the extremely talented XA Design team (previous work includes websites and artwork for NILE, BEHEMOTH, HATE, etc). We are still adding the remaining content to the site and ironing out a few bugs, but everything should be completed within the next few days. Check it out and let us know what you think of it!

Thirdly, De Profundis will be going into studio to record our second album in early June 2009. This is later than we had originally hoped for, but it will mean that the final product will be not be rushed and we will be able to deliver a fully-realised vision of our new compositions. This later start will also allow us to concentrate on the big shows that we will be doing until then (there's more in the pipeline!). More details to follow over the coming weeks.

Finally, on behalf of the band, I wish to thank all our fans for their support and encouragement, which had helped us to achieve so much in 2008. It means a lot to us to have people enjoy our music and support De Profundis at gigs. We do not take this for granted.

Onwards and upwards with 2009!"
